Systemic Investigation on a Case of Cellular Tower Installation Project
The citizen in San Pa Tong Subdistrict Municipality, Chiangmai, had filed a complaint and requested the ombudsman to look into the performance of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC), in regards to allowing a private company to install a cellular tower in a community area.

At the same time, they highlight NHRI actions to safeguard the rule of law and address recommendations to state authorities and European policy makers. These insights are compiled in ENNHRI’s third annual report on the state of the rule of law in Europe.

The Angolan Ombudsman, Florbela Rocha Araújo, in her capacity as President of the African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA), participated in the 15th Assembly and Seminar of the Institute of Latin-American Ombudsman (ILO), and during her visit to the event, she signed a Cooperation Agreement between AOMA and the ILO.

The Chief Ombudsman says the Department of Corrections must stop the way it’s running the Prisoners of Extreme Risk Unit (PERU) because the unit’s prisoners are being ill-treated. Peter Boshier has released a report that outlines serious concerns about human rights abuses at the unit which is based at Auckland Prison.

The Ombudsman’s monitoring visits to institutions for adults in 2023 focused particularly on the Prison and Probation Service’s transport of inmates to court appearances, outpatient treatment and in connection with transfer of inmates from one Prison and Probation Service institution to another.

El Ararteko ha traducido al castellano dos recomendaciones del Comité de Ministros del Consejo de Europa sobre defensorías del pueblo e instituciones nacionales de derechos humanos. Ambas resoluciones establecen los mejores estándares internacionales que instituciones como el Ararteko deben cumplir para proteger mejor los derechos humanos.
