Signing of Memorandum of Understanding with FCO
On 16 May 2017 IOI President Peter Tyndall and the President of the Forum of Canadian Ombudsman (FCO), Ms Nora Farrell signed a Memorandum of Understanding by which both organisations express their willingness to strongly cooperate in the future.President Tyndall further took the opportunity of his stay to visit the Toronto Office of the Ombudsman of Ontario.

Ombudsman Kräuter welcomes South Korean delegation in Vienna
As part of a study visit to Austria, Germany and the Netherlands, a delegation from South Korea visited the Austrian Ombudsman Board (AOB) on 5 September 2017. The delegation was chaired by Chul-Young Shin, Ombudsman of Gangwon Province, and included representatives from the audit division and general civil service offices of different South Korean cities. The visit served as a platform for a fruitful exchange of experiences between the AOB and the South Korean delegation.

Los Ombudsman de las provincias de Santa Fe, Buenos Aires y Córdoba se comunicaron telefónicamente y acordaron que se evalúen las obras necesarias para que la cuenca no desborde e inunde las localidades vecinas. Piden consensuar soluciones entre las tres jurisdicciones.

International Conference on "Past, Present and Future Perspective of Asian Ombudsman"
On the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA), First Vice-President of the IOI Diane Welborn and Secretary General Günther Kräuter were represented at AOA’s 15th General Assembly, jointly held by national and provincial ombudsman of the region. Diane Welborn’s opening speech on the successful work of the AOA in the fight against corruption and Günther Kräuter’s contributions to two sessions of the conference formed part of an excellently organized conference dealing with the past, present and future perspectives of Asian Ombudsman institutions.

International Conference to commemorate 25th anniversary of Ombudsman's Act
IOI President Peter Tyndall and Secretary General Günther Kräuter congratulate Ombudwoman Lora Vidovic on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Croatian Ombuds institution. Peter Tyndall’s well reputed speech and Günther Kräuter’s moderation formed part of an excellently organized conference dealing with the timely topic of “Reclaiming human rights in Europe: How to enhance the democratic space”.

Board adopts Vienna Declaration to support colleagues in Argentina
At its annual meeting in Vienna the IOI Board of Directors adopted a declaration requesting the Congress of Argentina to accelerate procedures to appoint the National Ombudsman – a position which has remained vacant for the past seven years – and the National Ombudsman for Children and Adolescents – a position which remains vacant since its creation in 2005.
