Hon. Ombudsman Sindh, Mr. Ajaz Ali Khan, presented the Annual Report 2021 of the institution to the newly appointed Honourable Governor Sindh, Mr. Kamran Khan Tessori, on 18 November 2022. The Report highlights the performance, achievements and progress during the year 2021. During this period a total of 7,113 complaints were received, out of which 2,129 were admitted.

2018-05-28Commonwealth Ombudsman released NDIA report
Commonwealth Ombudsman Michael Manthorpe released a report on the 15 May 2018 into the National Disability Insurance Agency’s (NDIA) handling of reviews of decisions under the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013. The report discusses systemic issues highlighted by complaints and stakeholder feedback including significant backlogs, delays in decision making and poor communication practices.

2022-11-21NPMs of German-speaking countries exchange experience at annual meeting
From 10 - 11 November 2022 the annual meeting of German-speaking National Preventive Mechanisms (NPM) took place at the Austrian Ombudsman Board in Vienna. For the first time, representatives of the NPM from Luxembourg and the Principality of Liechtenstein took part in this exchange as well.

2018-05-23Ombudsman finds Grandmother’s painful death from cancer was avoidable
A 73-year-old grandmother’s death from bladder cancer was avoidable, an investigation by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) has found. She died following a hospital’s nine-month delay to diagnose her. An inadequate local investigation failed to recognise this, and her son subsequently brought a complaint about her care to the Ombudsman.

2018-05-23New guidance for the Victorian public sector on how to deal with challenging behavior
Victorian government departments, local councils and other agencies dealing with challenging behaviour from members of the public will benefit from a new guide tabled in the Victorian Parliament today. Tabling her Good Practice Guide to Dealing with Challenging Behaviour, Victorian Ombudsman Deborah Glass said the guide aimed to help create better understanding between government bodies and the public.

2018-05-22The Czech Equality Body publishes the summary report 2017
The Equality Body of the Czech Republic – the Ombudswoman – published the summary report for the year 2017 informing about her main activities in the field of protection against discrimination. The Ombudswoman received 384 complaints concerning discrimination in 2017, most of them from the area of work and employment. In the year 2017, people mostly complained about discrimination on the grounds of disability. Ombudswoman established discrimination in 40 individual cases.

L’idée de créer une association regroupant les ombudsmans et médiateurs francophones est lancée en octobre 1996, lors de la VIe Conférence internationale de l'Institut International de l'Ombudsman à Buenos Aires, Argentine, par le Protecteur du citoyen du Québec, Daniel Jacoby et le Médiateur de la République française, Jacques Pelletier. Leur intention était de permettre une meilleure entraide et une plus grande coordination entre les pays francophones sur les questions des droits de la personne. Elle consistait également à développer l’engagement démocratique, à améliorer les interventions ainsi qu’à renforcer les bureaux des ombudsmans et médiateurs francophones.
