The event gathered representatives of public institutions, civil society organizations, international partners and community representatives to discuss progress, challenges and the way forward in ensuring the effective protection of the rights of non-majority communities.

2026-02-20Más de la mitad de los municipios en zona de emergencia nuclear no disponen del Plan de actuación
Más de la mitad de los municipios catalanes expuestos al riesgo de una emergencia nuclear (el 55,8 %) no tienen aprobado el Plan de actuación municipal de emergencia nuclear (PAMEN). Esto afecta a 58 municipios de un total de 104, todos ellos situados a una distancia de entre 10 y 30 kilómetros de las centrales nucleares de Ascó o Vandellòs (en la zona 2 según la delimitación del Plan de emergencia nuclear exterior –PENTA– aprobado por el Gobierno español). Estos datos se recogen en el informe Evaluación de los planes de actuación municipal de emergencia nuclear, que la síndica ha entregado esta mañana al Parlamento catalán y ha remitido a los municipios analizados y al Gobierno de Cataluña.

A newly released NSW Ombudsman investigation has denounced DCJ’s longstanding practice of closing ROSH reports on the stated basis that it has inadequate resourcing to undertake the necessary investigation and assessment of risk. “No Capacity to Allocate” – The Department of Communities and Justice’s practice of closing ROSH (Risk of Significant Harm) reports found this practice is contrary to DCJ’s statutory responsibilities, but has become ingrained as ‘business as usual’.

El Defensor del Pueblo, Ángel Gabilondo, ha abierto una actuación de oficio ante el Ministerio de Derechos Sociales, Consumo y Agenda 2030 y ante la Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia para que informen, en sus respectivos ámbitos, acerca de las medidas que pretenden adoptar para evitar sobrecostes en las tarifas de transportes alternativos al tren y evitar la existencia de conductas presuntamente abusivas por parte de algunas compañías.

2026-02-04Over 7,000 complaints received by Parliamentary Ombudsman
In 2025, the Parliamentary Ombudsman received a total of 7,321 complaints. This is the second largest number of complaints of all time. Case numbers rose in nearly all administrative branches. The largest numbers of complaints concerned social services, the administrative branch of the police and healthcare. The number of cases concerning foreign nationals more than tripled from the previous year. More than half of them concerned delays in processing at the Finnish Immigration Service.
