Access to justice for asylum seekers and refugees: a call for help from IOI members
The Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO) is delighted to announce the launch of a collaborative research project examining the role of ombudspersons in the protection of refugees and asylum seekers (the OPRAS project). In order to carry out the OPRAS project the University of Glasgow has received funding from the British Academy and is being carried out in collaboration with Professor Chris Gill.

Extension of deadline: Tender for IOI regional subsidies 2024/2025
The IOI Board of Directors decided at their Board meeting held in The Hague in May 2024 to continue the regional subsidy programme for the membership year 2024/2025. Members wishing to apply for regional subsidies can submit project proposals until 19 August 2024.

Traffic casualties on the rise: CY proposes corrective measures to ensure traffic safety
For the last five years, an average of 420 pedestrians have died in traffic accidents each year. The Transportation and Procurement Affairs Committee of the Control Yuan (CY) has approved an investigation report and submitted a corrective action case to the Executive Yuan on 9 April 2024.

The Alberta Ombudsman has released a public report on his investigation into the Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) program which found systemic issues in how the program assesses intellectual capacity.
