Public apology owed to victims of child sex offender who gained access to children through Puffing Billy
People in positions of authority at Puffing Billy and other Victorian railway groups protected the reputation of their organisations at the expense of children who were sexually abused, the Victorian Ombudsman has found. Tabling her Investigation into child sex offender Robert Whitehead’s involvement with Puffing Billy and other railway bodies in the Victorian Parliament, Ombudsman Deborah Glass said the failures of people in authority were monumental.

Le 17 mai 2018, le Médiateur de la République, Baba Akhib HAÏDARA a remis officiellement son Rapport annuel 2017 à S.E.M. le Président de la République, Ibrahim Boubacar KEÏTA. C’était à la faveur d’une cérémonie solennelle qui a regroupé le Premier Ministre, le Président de la Cour Constitutionnelle, les membres du Gouvernement, les membres du Cabinet du Président de la République et les collaborateurs du Médiateur de la République.

20 ans au service de la démocratie
L’idée de créer une association regroupant les ombudsmans et médiateurs francophones est lancée en octobre 1996, lors de la VIe Conférence internationale de l'Institut International de l'Ombudsman à Buenos Aires, Argentine, par le Protecteur du citoyen du Québec, Daniel Jacoby et le Médiateur de la République française, Jacques Pelletier. Leur intention était de permettre une meilleure entraide et une plus grande coordination entre les pays francophones sur les questions des droits de la personne. Elle consistait également à développer l’engagement démocratique, à améliorer les interventions ainsi qu’à renforcer les bureaux des ombudsmans et médiateurs francophones.
