IOI President Chris Field PSM undertook an official visit to Slovenia following the very gracious invitation of his outstanding colleague, Human Rights Ombudsman, Peter Svetina. Alongside bilateral exchanges and a number of meetings with the most senior members of Government, President Field was given the great honour of visiting many of the beautiful regions of Slovenia.

IOI President Chris Field PSM had the great pleasure of meeting the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Dominika Švarc Pipan, on the occasion of his official visit to Slovenia. The Minister is a very impressive individual and President Field and the Minister enjoyed a particularly warm exchange.

La síndica, Esther Giménez-Salinas, se ha desplazado al Parlamento vasco para participar en el ciclo “Legeen geroa-El futuro de las leyes”, organizado por la cámara vasca y el Ararteko, defensor del pueblo vasco. Ahí explicó las funciones de la institución como supervisora de las empresas prestadoras de servicios básicos.

The ombudsman participates in the Executive and Governing board meetings of the AOM in Kosovo
The Parliamentary Ombudsman, Judge Emeritus Joseph Zammit McKeon, the Maltese Ombudsman, attended the Executive and Governing Board meeting of the Association of Mediterranean Ombudsman (AOM) in Kosovo. This meeting was part of a three-day conference organised by the Ombudsman Institution of Kosovo in partnership with the AOM discussing ‘Integrity and Independence of Ombudsman Institutions: resilience amidst Challenges.’

Taxpayers’ Ombudsperson to monitor and examine issues related to CRA communications about the collection of COVID-related benefit overpayments
On 4 May 2023, the Taxpayers' Ombudsperson, Mr. François Boileau, announced his intention to closely monitor complaints received at his office concerning individuals who have already paid back COVID-related benefit overpayments to the Government of Canada yet are still receiving collection letters from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Examen de la France par les Nations Unies sur le respect des droits de l’enfant
Les 9 et 10 mai, l’État français a été auditionné par le Comité des droits de l’enfant des Nations Unies dans le cadre du 6e examen de la France sur l’effectivité de la Convention internationale des droits de l’enfant (CIDE). En France, le Défenseur des droits est l'organisation reconnue par le Comité pour veiller au respect des droits de l’enfant. Dans le cadre du 6e examen périodique de la France, actuellement en cours, le Défenseur des droits est intervenu pour apporter son expertise aux différentes étapes clés de la procédure.
