    Greater transparency needed for Government’s use of machine technology in decision-making

    New South Wales (NSW) Ombudsman Paul Miller has called for greater visibility of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and other machine technology by NSW Government agencies. In a report tabled in Parliament, the Ombudsman has cautioned agencies that using machine technology in ways that do not accord with standards of lawfulness, transparency, fairness and accountability, could lead to findings of maladministration or potentially unlawful conduct.

    El Defensor del Pueblo propone limitar la obligación de devolver el Ingreso Mínimo Vital a hogares vulnerables

    El Defensor del Pueblo acaba de iniciar una actuación de oficio que propone limitar, a través de una modificación legal, la obligación de devolver el Ingreso Mínimo Vital a hogares vulnerables cuando quede acreditada la buena fe de los beneficiarios o cuando el error sea atribuible a la Administración. La modificación legal propuesta afectaría también a otras ayudas asistenciales como pensiones no contributivas de invalidez o jubilación, o los subsidios de desempleo de larga duración.

    Réaction au projet de Règlement modifiant le Règlement sur l’aide aux personnes et aux familles

    Le 16 août 2024, le protecteur du citoyen, M. Marc-André Dowd, a transmis une lettre à la ministre responsable de la Solidarité sociale et de l’Action communautaire, Mme Chantal Rouleau. Il y commente le projet de Règlement modifiant le Règlement sur l’aide aux personnes et aux familles. Le but du projet de loi est d’instaurer un supplément à la prestation équivalant à 10 % des revenus de travail qui dépassent le montant permis sans diminution de la prestation.
