Network of Southeast European NPMs meets in Vienna
From 15 – 16 November 2022, the second meeting of this year of the Southeast European Network of National Preventive Mechanisms (SEE NPM Network) was held in Vienna under the chairmanship of the Austrian Ombudsman Board. Within this network, 13 NPMs meet regularly to exchange experiences and facilitate shared learning.

Public service complaints to the Ombudsman rise by 11%
Complaints to the Ombudsman about public services rose by 11% to over 3,500 in 2014. Launching his annual report today (Wednesday 10 June) Ombudsman Peter Tyndall said the increase was mainly due to the additional 200 public bodies which came within his jurisdiction for a full year for the first time in 2014. These included bodies in the education sector such as the State Examinations Commission and Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI).

Poor communication, errors in diagnosis and poor treatment tops the list of hospital complaints investigated by the Ombudsman
A report has revealed that the top three reasons for hospital complaints investigated by the Ombudsman Service were poor communication, errors in diagnosis - including delays in diagnosis, misdiagnosis and failure to diagnose - and poor treatment.

Ombudsman Sindh orders Karachi Water & Sewage Board to supply drinking water to the residents of Karachi
Residents of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Karachi were suffering from the acute shortage of safe drinking water for the last one year during which they had no other option but to buy a water tanker to meet their basic need. A complaint to Principla Ombudsman Sindh, Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik, for supply of potable water was filed.

On 23/03/2016, a meeting was held with representatives of the Office of the OSCE Presence in Albania in the premises of the People’s Advocate Institution. During this meeting PA's experts presented issues regarding the complaints submitted to the Ombudsman Institution by the representatives of Roma community settled in Sharra waste disposal site in the outskirts of Tirana.
