    Fallo judicial – el congreso deberá nombrar al Defensor del Pueblo

    En el mismo día en que la Corte Suprema de Justicia exhortó al Congreso a designar al Defensor del Pueblo en su fallo sobre las tarifas de los servicios públicos, la Cámara en lo Contencioso Administrativo Federal (Sala III) dictó hoy un fallo trascendental, exhortando a la Cámara de Diputados y al Senado de la Nación a que nombren al Defensor del Pueblo, cargo que se encuentra vacante desde la renuncia de Eduardo Mondino en 2009, y sin defensores adjuntos desde finales de 2013.

    Ombudsman criticizes authority after visit to Alytus Correction House

    Having assessed the human rights situation in Alytus Correction House, the Seimas Ombudsman Mr. A. Normantas noted that there is not enough space for inmates in wheelchairs to move freely within the cells. The bathrooms are too narrow, and the stairs leading to a canteen and library as well as the odontologist, family doctor and psychologist are not adjusted for the use of people with disabilities.
