Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, in order to monitoring the situation of preventive measures against spread of the virus in the country the members of the National Preventive Groupn (NPG) of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan has conducted monitoring in numerous facilities of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan all over the country, as well as in the center of detention for the administratively arrested persons of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Prime Minister replies to the Ombudsman's report on the risk of poverty in Latvia
On 30 November 2012 the Ombudsman of the Republic of Latvia sent a letter to international stakeholders in the field of human rights drawing attention the risk of poverty in Latvia. On 8 March 2013, the Prime Minister of Latvia issued a statement commenting on this topic.

Ombudsman Svetina meets with Austrian Ombudsman Amon
On 13 January 2020, Human Rights Ombudsman Peter Svetina hosted a working visit from Werner Amon, Secretary General of the IOI and Chair of the Austrian Ombudsman Board. Amon and his Slovenian counterpart exchanged the experiences of their respective national institutions dedicated to human rights and called for even greater cooperation between ombudsmen in Europe.
