Italy-Argentina: Bilateral Meeting in the Name of Civil Defense
At the Regional Council of Lazio, a meeting took place between Marino Fardelli, Civil Ombudsman of Lazio and President of the Coordination of Italian Civil Ombudsmen, and Walter Domingo Martello, Vice General Civil Ombudsman of the Province of Buenos Aires. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange experiences between the two institutions, and this goal was fully achieved with a commitment to continue in the future.

Leadership Retreat in Bogor: Cooperation of the Commissioners of the Indonesian and Dutch National Ombudsman institutions
On 19 and 20 December 2023, the Commissioners of the Ombudsman of Indonesia and the National Ombudsman of the Netherlands met in Bogor, Indonesia, for a leadership retreat. The topics on the agenda of this meeting were the Venice Principles, institutional transformation, and other topics related to the Grand Design of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia for 2025-2045.

"Accessibility and Customization of the Investigation Procedure for Persons with Disability" - Symposium for the staff of the Office of the Ombudsman of Israel
On 9 July 2023, the staff of the Office of the Ombudsman participated in a symposium on the topic "Accessibility and Customization of the Investigation Procedure for Persons with Disability". The symposium, which took place at the main office of the Ombudsman in Jerusalem, focused on the verbal and written communication between staff of the Office of the Ombudsman and complainants with disability. The symposium was chaired by a blind staff member of the Office of the Ombudsman.

IOI President meets the Australian Ambassador to the Holy See and Chargé d'Affaires of the Australian Embassy in Italy
Immediately prior to the international Ombudsman conference in Rome commencing, IOI President Chris Field PSM was delighted to meet the Australian Ambassador to the Holy See, Her Excellency Ms Chiara Porro. Importantly, 2023 marks 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Australia and the Holy See. It was also President Field’s pleasure to meet the Chargé d'Affaires of the Australian Embassy in Italy, Ms Mary Ellen Miller.

A key highlight of the Second International Ombuds Expo, which will take place in Gaborone, Botswana, from 29 July to 2 August 2024, will be a Special Celebration of Pioneers of Ombud, Human Rights and other related Oversight Institutions.
