The Chief Ombudsman Peter Boshier has published his half-yearly data on Official Information Act (OIA) and Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act (LGOIMA) complaints. The data covers the number of complaints received under each Act for the period 1 January 2023 to 30 June 2023, as well as the number of complaints completed by the Ombudsman during this period.

United Nations concerned at high rates of juvenile and Māori imprisonment
The United Nations Committee against Torture has called on the New Zealand Government to reduce the disproportionately high number of Māori in prisons and to improve the conditions of people in detention, noting that transformational change is needed. It also expressed concern about the use of pretrial detention, and lack of time limits for pretrial detention. Chief Ombudsman Peter Boshier says the UN’s findings echo the concerns he has repeatedly raised in many of his inspection reports, including in prisons and health and disability facilities.

Depuis l'été 2022, de nombreuses personnes contactent le Médiateur fédéral pour un problème avec leurs primes énergie. Cette année, le Médiateur fédéral a déjà reçu près de 800 plaintes et questions concernant les primes énergie que le gouvernement accorde aux citoyens pour réduire le montant de leur facture d’énergie.
