El 18 de noviembre de 2024 se ha debatido en la Comisión del Síndic el informe del Mecanismo Catalán para la Prevención de la Tortura (MCPT) de 2023. El MCPT visitó veintinueve centros con personas privadas de libertad e hizo recomendaciones para garantizar sus derechos. El trabajo en los centros penitenciarios es fundamental para garantizar la reinserción, pero la oferta es insuficiente y poco útil.

The session focused on Report no. B/7848 on the activities of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary and his deputies in 2023.

The review focused on understanding DCJ’s complaint handling system, the foundational elements underpinning it and how well it is operating in practice.

From 18 to 20 November 2024, the Austrian Ombudsman Board (AOB) received a delegation from the Uzbek Ombudsman Institution (Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights) for a study visit in Vienna. Ombudsperson and IOI Secretary General, Ms Gaby Schwarz, and Uzbek Ombudsperson, Ms Feruza Eshmatova, also discussed ways to deepen cooperation within the International Ombudsman Institute.

Esto se debe a las restricciones del SPF en la admisión de detenidos y a la falta de capacidad disponible. Esta situación ha generado un contexto crítico en términos de derechos humanos, lo que evidencia la necesidad urgente de una respuesta institucional efectiva por parte del Gobierno de la ciudad.

At the 27th Presentation Ceremony of The Ombudsman’s Awards on 31 October 2024, The Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, presented the Grand Award to the Hong Kong Fire Services Department, an Award for Public Organisation to both the Social Welfare Department and the Water Supplies Department, the Award on Mediation to the Housing Department, the Customer Services Award to the Immigration Department, and the Information Technology Application and Creativity Award to the Hospital Authority. Individual Awards were also given to 79 public officers.

The Universal Coverage for Emergency Patients is a government policy presented to the parliament by the Council of Ministers. The Council of Ministers has approved the criteria, methoos, and conditions for determining costs associated with treating critical emergency patients under the UCEP policy. As this policy involves multiple government agencies and ministries, the Thailand Ombudsman’s fact-finding results and recommendations have been submitted to the Prime Minister for review and appropriate action.
