2015-09-08The Constitutional Court repealed the provisions of the Mental Health Act at the Ombudsman’s request
The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia repealed a part of the Mental Health Act at its session on 10 June 2015. The third sentence of the second paragraph of Article 74 is repealed, namely the provision defining that on behalf of a person who has been deprived of their capacity to conclude contracts, consent for admission to a secure ward is given by a legal representative. It also repealed the third sentence of the third paragraph of Article 74 of this Act, i.e. the provision regulating that only the legal representative of the person in a secure ward may withdraw such consent at any time or request that the person be released from the ward.

Report explores the Access to Healthcare of Irregular Migrants in 10 EU Member States
Migrants in an irregular situation in the European Union (EU), namely those who do not fulfil conditions for entry, stay or residence, often suffer from specific health risks, such as those resulting from exploitative working conditions or precarious housing. As EU-Member-States, faced with an ageing population and the repercussions of a global economic crisis, struggle to contain public health expenditure, the right to health for all - regardless of legal status - must remain a key concern.

Comenzó el 3° Congreso Latinoamericano de Justicia Restaurativa
Este jueves se llevó a cabo la primera de tres jornadas del Congreso que se plantea bajo el lema “Justicia Restaurativa y Derechos Humanos: Promoviendo Prácticas Restaurativas como Políticas Públicas”. El flamante presidente del Instituto Internacional del Ombudsman (IIO), Chris Field destacó en su mensaje grabado que los ombudmans juegan un papel muy importante en todo el mundo y celebró la realización del Congreso.

La Defensoría presentó su curso de Actualización en Políticas Públicas y Protección de Derechos
Con la participación del Defensor del Pueblo de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires Alejandro Amor, el martes 4 de agosto se realizó en el Salón Rojo de la Facultad de Derecho de la UBA la jornada de presentación del curso de Actualización en Políticas Públicas y Protección de Derechos, concebido para seguir capacitando y formando en materia de Derechos Humanos a todos los cuadros públicos que trabajan cotidianamente en las Defensorías del Pueblo y en otros organismos estatales afines.
