Chief Ombudsman publishes OIA and LGOIMA complaints information January 2023 - June 2023
The Chief Ombudsman Peter Boshier has published his half-yearly data on Official Information Act (OIA) and Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act (LGOIMA) complaints. The data covers the number of complaints received under each Act for the period 1 January 2023 to 30 June 2023, as well as the number of complaints completed by the Ombudsman during this period.

4th NPM Workshop – Save the Date!
Over the past years the IOI has developed several training programmes that cater to the specific needs of member institutions acting as National Preventive Mechanism (NPM). The 4th IOI workshop for NPMs will be generously hosted by the Office of the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman and held in Copenhagen from 7 - 9 November 2018.

Ombudsperson report finds financial support programs for people displaced by extreme weather emergencies outdated and unfair
In a report released on 3 October 2023, the BC Ombudsperson finds emergency support programs are outdated, under-resourced, inaccessible for vulnerable evacuees and poorly communicated and calls on government to take urgent action to better support people who are increasingly being displaced from their homes for long periods by extreme weather events.

Implementation of recommendations of study on issues of girls’ education in Sindh
In light of the recommendations of study on “Issues of Girl’s Education in Sindh” conducted in collaboration with IOI Regional Subsidy 2018/19, Regional Directors of Secretariat Provincial Ombudsman Sindh were advised to take action in accordance with the recommendations pertaining to “Community Awareness”.

Conference to commemorate 20th Anniversary of the Ombudsman of the Republic

Ombudsman releases updated version of “Fairness by Design: An Administrative Fairness Assessment Guide”
This "Fairness by Design" guide is an assessment tool that can be used by public organizations across Canada to ensure they have fair decision-making processes and are fair in the design and delivery of their programs. The guide was developed by the Canadian Council of Parliamentary Ombudsman (CCPO).
