Manitoba Ombudsman has released its investigation report on the City of Winnipeg’s Handi-Transit service, now called Transit Plus. The service provides transportation for approximately 7,500 clients who are unable to use the fixed-route transit system because they are legally blind or have a physical disability that significantly impairs their mobility.

Ombudsman for the Armed Forces signs Time to Change pledge
In a demonstration of her commitment to making the OSCO a supportive work environment, Nicola Williams, the Service Complaints Ombudsman for the Armed Forces signed the Time to Change pledge this afternoon. In doing so, the OSCO has joined the ranks of over 700 employers in England who have signed the pledge. Time to Change is a campaign that aims to change the way we talk and think about mental health in order to remove the stigma and end discrimination.

Ombudsman urges improvements in how trees are protected in Northern Ireland’s planning system
A report published by the Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO) into how trees are protected has found that despite 369 tree protection breaches reported between 2019 and 2022, only one resulted in enforcement action being taken, and none led to prosecution. The report also found there was a lack of clear information for the public on Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs), and that information about which trees are protected should be made more accessible.
