Australia | New guidance for the Victorian public sector on how to deal with challenging behavior

Victorian government departments, local councils and other agencies dealing with challenging behaviour from members of the public will benefit from a new guide tabled in the Victorian Parliament today. Armenia | Mandate of Human Rights Defender expanded significantly following constitutional amendments

Under the new Constitution of 2015 the mandate of the Human Rights Defender (HRD) has been expanded by including the power to facilitate the improvement of the regulatory legal acts related to human rights and freedoms. Following the Constitutional Amendments, a new Constitutional Law on Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia was adopted in December 2016. Within this constitutional function, a new practice of drafting laws by the HRD Office is being exercised.

AOMF | 20 ans au service de la démocratie

L’idée de créer une association regroupant les ombudsmans et médiateurs francophones est lancée en octobre 1996, lors de la VIe Conférence internationale de l'Institut International de l'Ombudsman à Buenos Aires, Argentine, par le Protecteur du citoyen du Québec, Daniel Jacoby et le Médiateur de la République française, Jacques Pelletier. Leur intention était de permettre une meilleure entraide et une plus grande coordination entre les pays francophones sur les questions des droits de la personne. Elle consistait également à développer l’engagement démocratique, à améliorer les interventions ainsi qu’à renforcer les bureaux des ombudsmans et médiateurs francophones.

The case of a young Austrian athlete who was severly injured in the Olympic village in Baku during the First European Games in 2015 has finally been resolved in part due to the successful international cooperation between Austrian Ombudsman Dr. Günther Kräuter and the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan Prof. Elmira Suleymanova.

TONGA | Ombudsman published first report on water billing and disconnection practices

In April 2018, the Office of the Ombudsman in the Kingdom of Tonga published its first report. CZECH REPUBLIC | The Czech Equality Body publishes the summary report 2017

The Equality Body of the Czech Republic – the Ombudswoman – published the summary report for the year 2017 informing about her main activities in the field of protection against discrimination.
