Poland | Situation of stateless persons

The Human Rights Defender has pointed to the complicated situation of stateless people. Prof. Lipowicz has indicated that currently binding regulations concerning, inter alia, acquiring the refugee status and enabling the legalization of the stay in Poland are not adapted to the problems which the refugees currently face.

Spain | Recommendations for improving the situation of Spanish nationals detained in prisons overseas

The Ombudsman, Soledad Becerril, has presented a study on the situation of Spanish prisoners abroad which analyses 224 complaints dealt with by the Institution in the last two years, and makes recommendations for improving the situation that the prisoners find themselves in.

Ireland | HIQA and Ombudsman agreement will benefit the public and health services

On 2 July 2015, the Chief Executive of the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA), Phelim Quinn, and Ombudsman Peter Tyndall signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of the Authority and the Office of the Ombudsman.
