IOI: Ombudsman Community mourns death of Dr. Edgardo José Bistoletti

It is with tremendous sadness and sorrow that the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) has learned that Dr. Edgardo José Bistoletti, Ombudsman of the Province of Santa Fe (Argentina) and member of the IOI Board of Directors, passed away on Friday, 18 April 2014 after a short but severe illness.

SOUTH AFRICA: Time Magazine named Ombudsman one of the world’s 100 most influential people

Every year the American news magazine assembles the 100 most influential people in the world and publishes its annual Time 100 list. This year, Time Magazine included South Africa’s Public Protector, Adv. Thuli Madonsela as one of the world’s most influential people in the category “Leaders”.

CANADA/Toronto: Ombudsman released report into eviction for arrears

PAKISTAN: Provincial Ombudsman Sindh issues directives for transfer of pension

Due to delays in the transfer of family pension, the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh issued directives to the authorities concerned to initiate enquiries against the officers/officials responsible for delaying the matter of the widow complaining.

CANADA/Quebec: Ombudsman’s Investigation on wait times for coroners’ investigations

Further to complaints it received concerning the time associated with coroners’ investigations, the Québec Ombudsman looked into the issue fraught with adverse human and financial consequences for the loved ones of the deceased.
