From 27 - 31 October 2025, the Office of the Commonwealth Ombudsman will host its annual Complaint Handling Forum. The 5-part virtual forum will feature speakers from a variety of backgrounds, including an Ombudsman panel discussion featuring the Commonwealth Ombudsman, Iain Anderson, Tax Ombudsman, Ruth Owen and Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, Cynthia Gebert.
Practical sessions include:
- ‘Every Complaint Matters: Better Complaint Handling for a Fairer Future’ – Ombudsman panel discussion
- ‘Culturally Grounded Innovation: Strengthening Complaint Pathways for First Nations Communities’ – Professor Marcia Langton AO
- ‘Trauma-Informed Complaint Handling: Creating Safe and Supportive Systems for All’ – Tanya Hallet
- ‘Accessible by Design: Embedding disability informed practice in complaint handling’- Dr Dinesh Palipana OAM
- ‘Handling Online Unreasonable Complainant Conduct’ – Dr Annabel Chan
Each virtual session will be delivered in English between 12:00-1:30pm Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT).
Tickets are on sale through Eventbrite for $80.20 AUD per session or at the discounted rate of $290.90 AUD for all 5 sessions.
