AZERBAIJAN | Helsinki Conference on impacts of artificial intelligence on human rights, democracy and the rule of law

A high-level conference on the topic of “Impacts of artificial intelligence development on human rights, democracy and the rule of law” was held from February 26-27, 2019, in Helsinki, Finland. The conference was organized by the Finnish government and Council of Europe (CoE) within the framework of the Finnish Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers.

FRANCE | L’activité du Défenseur des droits en 2018 montre l’augmentation de la demande d’accès aux droits

En 2018, l’institution a reçu 95 836 dossiers de réclamations soit une augmentation de plus de 6% par rapport à 2017 et de 13% sur les deux dernières années. 80% des règlements amiables engagés par l’institution ont abouti favorablement. Estonia | English summary of 2016-2017 overview of the Chancellor of Justice activities now available

The Chancellor of Justice is a one-person, independent constitutional institution appointed to office by the Riigikogu on the proposal of the President of the Republic for a term of seven years. The Chancellor’s task is to make sure that legislation in Estonia is in conformity with the Constitution and that the fundamental rights and liberties of people in Estonia are protected. Besides constitutional review and ombudsman functions, the Chancellor also fulfils the role of national preventive mechanism for ill-treatment and ombudsman for children. Once a year, the Chancellor presents an annual report of his or her activities to the Riigikogu.
