IOI: Webinar on Ombudsman innovations for advancing open government

On Tuesday, 17 March 2015 at 10am (Eastern Standard Time), a webinar on “Ombudsman Innovations for advancing Open Government” will take place. The joint project is sponsored by the Open Government Partnership (OGP), the World Bank Governance Global Practice (GGP) and the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) and will aim to discuss the opportunities for Ombudsman offices to engage in their respective countries’ OGP processes.

AUSTRIA: NI Ombudsman presents Human Rights Manual to Ombudsman staff

Deputy Northern Ireland Ombudsman Marie Anderson together with the Director of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission, Ms Virginia McVea, presented the results of a joint project on a “Human Rights-based approach to the Ombudsman work” to staff members from the Austrian Ombudsman Board in Vienna.

SPAIN/CATALONIA: Ombudsman submitted Annual Report 2014 to Parliament

The Catalan Ombudsman submitted the Annual Report 2014 to Parliament. In 2014 the office handled over 27,211 actions, concerning 53.095 people of which 40% were related to social policies. The Catalan version of the 2014 Annual Report is now available online.
