COUNCIL OF EUROPE: Protecting Children’s Rights

Twenty-five years ago, on 20 November 1989, the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). It was a landmark development: for the first time, states recognized children as fully-fledged bearers of a range of human rights, just like adults.

MEXICO: Senate elects new President of National Human Rights Commission

Last week the Senate has elected Mr Luis Raúl González Pérez as the new President of the Mexican National Human Rights Commission (Comisión Nacional de Derechos Humanos, CNDH). Mr Gonzales succeeds Dr. Raul Plascencia Villanueva, whose term ended.
