IOI: OGP Europe Regional Meeting in Dublin

On 8-9 May 2014 the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Regional Meeting for Europe will take place in Dublin.The event comes at an important time for OGP in Europe. Over 20 countries from the region are currently developing new open government reform commitments as part of their OGP Action Plans.

UK: Health Ombudsman urges action to prevent ‘avoidable’ deaths of people with a learning disability

Too many people with a learning disability are not getting access to the right care and treatment at the right time, leading to avoidable deaths in some cases, the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) warns.

Staff Exchange Program 2014

TAIWAN: Control Yuan holds staff exchange program

From 26 to 30 April 2014, the Control Yuan (CY) held a Staff Exchange Program with the ombudsman/human rights offices of Asian-Pacific and African countries. The program was joined by six participants from Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Swaziland and Vietnam, who had just finished the three-week National Development Course (NDC) held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

UK: Call for single Public Services Ombudsman for England

The Public Administration Committee published a report in favour of the creation of a single Public Services Ombudsman for England. This report advocates a change to how ombudsman services are run in England and would mean a significant change to the Ombudsman Service in the UK.
