IOI | ExCom holds first mid-term meeting by electronic means

On 17 October 2017 the IOI Executive Committee (ExCom) held its first mid-term meeting by means of a videoconference which was hosted by the Office of IOI President Peter Tyndall.

For the first time members of the IOI Executive Committee – i.e. President Peter Tyndall (Europe), 1st Vice-President Diane Welborn (North America), 2nd Vice-President Chris Field (APOR), Treasurer Viddhavat Rajatanun (Asia) and Secretary General Günther Kräuter – held a mid-term meeting by electronic means. Following a Board decision, Regional Presidents (RPs) from those regions, which are currently not represented on the ExCom (i.e. African RP Caronline Sokoni and Caribbean & Latin American RP Nilda Arduin), also participated in this meeting as observers.

The meeting gave room for discussions on the progress of several IOI projects such as the publication of a IOI history, the next issues of the IOI’s new series of Best Practice Papers, past and upcoming training events, finances or planned events to celebrate the IOI’s 40th anniversary in 2018.

IOI President Peter Tyndall also took the opportunity of RP Arduin’s participation to once again express the IOI’s solidarity for the Caribbean, especially the colleagues of those islands which have been most severely hit by Hurricane Irma this year. The ExCom therefore approved to increase the amount of regional subsidies to support Ombudsman offices in the aftermath of the devastating natural catastrophe.
