OA | Driving Improvements: collaboration and peer learning

The Ombudsman Association’s 2019 Conference will take place in Belfast on 21-22 May 2019, with a theme of “Driving improvements: collaboration and peer learning”.

Alongside plenary sessions on the need for kindness and emotion in public policy and on how to attract and retain staff, there will be workshops on the common challenges faced by all Ombudsman schemes, including dealing with backlogs, working with other oversight bodies, transparency, peer reviews and targets.

The conference will take place at the Hilton in Belfast with a gala dinner at the Titanic Hotel, the former Harland & Wolff Drawing Offices where the Titanic was designed.

There will also be a “fringe event” on the Monday organised by the Equality & Human Rights Commission (for Great Britain) to deliver the training they’ve developed for Ombudsman schemes to take human rights issues into account in their casework (which flows from the work originally developed in Northern Ireland).

For further information on the conference and how to register please visit the website of the Ombudsman Association (OA).
