CZECH REPUBLIC | Czech Ombudsman releases 3 annual reports: on her activities, NPM, and discrimination

Public Defender of Rights of the Czech Republic, Anna Šabatová, has recently published three annual reports on her activities. In the Annual Report on Activities, she presents her recommendations to constitutional bodies, numbers of received and handled complaints, or actual topics throughout her agenda (social security, family, labour, public policy, environment, judiciary, migration, asylum law…).

Report of the National Preventive Mechanism presents the main activities of Czech NPM in 2015. The activities were mainly related to systemic suggestions about the protection from maltreatment. The NPM also focused on the protection of the rights of elderly people living in institutions or international cooperation with the other NPMs. The National Preventive Mechanism also celebrated 10 years of its work in the Czech Republic.

Report on Protection against Discrimination 2015 is the first separate annual report of the Public Defender of Rights as a national equality body. It focuses on the individual received complaints as well as surveys and analysis of ongoing topics, e.g. equal pay, transgender people, accessibility, sexism or work-life balance.
