ARMENIA | Criminal cases launched based on violations revealed by the Ombudsman

Two more criminal cases have been launched based on the ad hoc public report of the Human Rights Defender on violations in psychiatric establishments.

According to the official letter addressed to the Human Rights Defender by the RA Prosecutor General’s Office, a criminal case was initiated against the officials of the “Vardenis Psychoneurologic Social Care Home” State Non-Profit Organization for embezzlement in large amount. The Director of the establishment and several other officials are involved as accused.

Another criminal case was initiated against the “National Centre for Mental Health Care” CJSC (previously, “Nubarashen” Psychiatric Center) for large-scale embezzlement.

As a reminder, earlier another criminal case was initiated for the cases of providing paid services in psychiatric establishments against officials of the Ministry of Health and Psychiatric establishments, recorded by the Office of the Human Rights Defender.

The RA Investigative Committee conducts preliminary investigation of all these criminal cases.
