GREAT BRITAIN | 20th anniversary of the establishment of the office of the Ombudsman in Gibraltar

On 10th December 2018 the Gibraltar Public Services celebrated 20 years to the day since the enactment by Parliament of the Public Services Ombudsman Act 1998. This was followed shortly after by the establishment of the Office of the Ombudsman in Gibraltar. The Public Service Ombudsman investigates complaints by the general public about acts or omissions by public service providers, such as Government departments, agencies and authorities.The Office of the Ombudsman came into being in April 1999 with the appointment of Mr Henry Pinna as Gibraltar's first Public Services Ombudsman.

To mark this significant date, the Public Services Ombudsman Group (“PSOG”) semi-annual meeting was held in Gibraltar on 10th and 11th December 2018. The PSOG is made up of the Public Services Ombudsman of Gibraltar and Public Sector Ombudsmen from England, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and Malta.
